NOEL

Noel blocks for TT can erase later

I’ve been a garage sale, thrift store junkie since the 70’s. This was a recent find and had to share since it fits with our Christmas season. It’s wooden with a metal bell that holds a candle. Not real sure I’m crazy about the candle top, but love the bell. Soon as I spotted it, I knew it was on its way to my house. 🙂

I applied a frame and background that’s built into Adobe Photoshop and then applied Kim’s kk_edith since I’m sharing with Texture Tuesday.

I cannot believe that next Tuesday is Christmas Eve. It’s coming and coming fast. Actually, it seems that it is sneaking up on me when I realize that it is next week. I’m thinking I should probably plan the meal and head to the grocery store this week.

As we head into Christmas, we’ve had lots of snow ~ even the soft falling big flakes kind of snow that I love when the weather is just right for walking in it or just standing outside and taking in the beauty. However, they are saying that the wonderful white stuff is about to be replaced by three days of rain to wash it all away and then it will be a brown Christmas. But, never to fear because when our kids and grandkids arrive, the sunshine always arrives with them because their spirit and laughter can brighten any day.

Joyeux Noel and Bonne Annee

(isn’t French such lovely looking words for Merry Christmas and Happy New Year?)

Road Less Traveled

Choice for Quotography 2 for TT

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
-Robert Frost

I keep reading this and wondering what is he saying. So far I’ve found maybe several meanings ~ in my head anyway.

1. He chose the path less traveled because he didn’t want to follow in footsteps known to him of life?

2. He chose the path less traveled because he knew where the other path in life might lead?

3. He chose the path less traveled because, well he just wanted to?

4. He knew he could be so many things, but he traveled the path that led to the things that he enjoyed and wanted to pursue in life?

I give…not sure what it means. If you have any suggestions, would love to know what you think this poem is saying by Mr. Frost. (:

~hugs ‘n smiles~ for a great week ahead.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

As perfume doth remain In the folds where it hath lain,

So the thought of you, remaining Deeply folded in my brain,

Will not leave me: all things leave me:

You remain.

– Arthur Symons

~A Bit ‘O History ~

  • In 1888, Toledo’s Dr. Allen DeVilbiss developed an atomizer. DeVilbiss used the atomizer to spray a small dose of medicine down the throats of his patients. Later on, the atomizer was repurposed as a spray finisher. In the early 1900s, atomizers began to be used to hold perfume.

Perfumes

  • By the time of World War I, many G.I.’s who were returning home from France through Paris picked up perfumes in atomizer bottles for their sweethearts and wives back home. Today, nearly all liquid perfumes are sold in some sort of atomizer. Decades ago, it was more common to see perfume atomizers with a bulb attached to a cord to pump the perfume through the mister. These days, few perfumes are sold in such receptacles. This is because pressurized atomizers with a bulb are more costly to make, and can become useless is the soft rubber of the pumping bulb is damaged. Fun Summer Day

beach n sandbucket quote for TT

Even if kids can’t really accomplish it, they always think they will build a sand castle. Apparently the grandbabykins is trying to build one that appears to have a pond or an eventual moat around it. hahahaha The photo brought to mind all the things kids probably imagine as they play in the sand.

Sharing with Texture Tuesday. I added my pb_smokeygrunge texture, and then the kk_cosmo from Kim Klassen. Plus, then I added a few things that weren’t in the original picture, and I took the people out.

Original is below.

Thistle

Thistle Deceiving

Since it’s been so dry lately, the weeds are taking over so decided to do a ‘WEEDS’ photo shoot. I had allowed this thistle to become way to tall, but when I saw it was beginning to have blooms thought ‘why not?’ let it go. Now the photo is taken, I can cut it back. These are not my favorite because if you touch them without protection, it is hard to remove those minuscule little fibers. If they’re good for something, I wonder. The bloom is the prettiest lavender color though.

It kind of reminded me of the quote ‘Pretty Is As Pretty Does’ only I was thinking ‘Pretty Isn’t As Pretty Does’ because these can be hurtful.

To the original photo, I applied Nancy Claes NC220 and then Kim Klassen’s KK_May and changed the green Hue.

Sharing with Texture Tuesday and Tuesday Muse.

Another version with an effect applied that comes in the Adobe Photoshop CS5
