Times Two

Love times two

This was the first puppy (a Scottie Terrier) when our son was five. The puppy arrived on January 3rd of that year, and his baby brother arrived the next day (another story) for my writing at http://peabeascribbles.wordpress.com. The puppy was named Smokey. The son in this picture is now 48  as of New Years Eve, and the puppy lived to be 14 years. I titled it ‘Love times two’ because naturally the son was so loved and the puppy stole all our hearts.

Sharing with Texture Tuesday. Textured with kk_1216 and pdpa old world charm 4 from Pixel Dust.

Hope everyone is having a good 2014 so far. We’re staying warm so far as Ohio plummets into the below zero temperatures.

Thanks for stopping by, and love when I get comments so comment away. 🙂 or even critiques are welcome.

Treats Please

Next week-end we can expect lots of knocks on lots of doors from littlekins uttering those famous words ‘Trick or Treat’.

I’ve never been one to be very crazy about Halloween, but some people really enjoy it. It’s just not my thing, but the daughter-in-law and son found this costume and thought it would be fun on Razzy. Not sure though that he agrees.

This little guy waits for no holiday to enjoy his treats. His internal clock goes off several times during the day demanding treats. If he’s giving you a certain stare, you know you forgot to head to the treats jar. The best fun is having him guess which hand has the treat or under which cup. His sniffer is pretty good though as he has it down to finding it within seconds.

A Little History

(excerpt taken from history.com)if you want to read more.

Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. It is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints’ Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating. In a number of countries around the world, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people continue to usher in the winter season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats.

Whether you’re one to enjoy Halloween or not, have a great Fall as we head into the Holiday Season ahead.

Razzy

Today is Razzy’s birthday. He is now two years old…and quite the boss (or so he thinks) around here. He minds on some things, and on others it’s kinda like he just says “look at the wagging tail because I’m not listening to you”.

He makes the day fun!!!

The same day our first son got a new puppy, we didn’t realize that same night he would be getting his new baby brother. The puppy was a Scottish Terrier. He weighed about one lb, and when the mom-in-law came to stay with son number one, “Surprise, here you go, there’s a new puppy to deal with also.” She was awesome and took it in her stride.

Puppy number one, the Scotty named Smokey lived to be about 15 years old. He died when the first son was 18 and his brother was 13. Also, in that year, another surprise came along. You might say that the 18 year old, instead of getting a new car for graduation got a new baby sister.

When the new baby sister was 5, she got a new puppy for her birthday as a surprise. It was a chocolate Mini Poodle that was the runt of the litter that no one wanted so we adopted her. She looked more like a toy though and weighed about one lb. and grew to be about 5 lbs. Her name was Kassy. You can read her story here http://www.angelfire.com/biz4/trabonet/Kassy2.html. She lived to be about 14 years old.

After the Poodle and with the kids now pretty much out of the house, we had decided no more dogs. Well, that lasted about seven years. My hubby was an over-the-road trucker at the time, and guess what he got? Yep, a call from me with “Surprise, guess what I got myself today?” I got a new puppy. Hubby just knew that’s the way it rolls at our house so he wasn’t too mad at me, and I knew he wouldn’t be. He hardly ever, ever gets mad at me. Sometimes, I really do wonder why though. He should…hahahaha

The one in the picture above is my puppy. His name is Razzy and he will be two this July 4th! It’s worked out fine having another puppy to keep us company.

Using for Texture Tuesday, the background is Kim Klassen’s mini may kk_grungeframed and then I overlayed the mini may kk_totalgrunge with soft light, and the photo brads are from Rita at The Coffee Shop Blog  Sharing this with Tuesday Muse also.
