My Yearly Gift

My gift arrived right on time…….

A few years ago, my middle child (son) had to move back home for a bit, and while here he ordered bulbs to plant in my flower bed. He has since moved away again, and every year, it is like getting that gift all over again.  I did separate and move the bulbs last year, but was wondering if they would return. They did.

My Lily gift from the son. 🙂

I Got LOVE In A Vase

You might have read my other post that our Son who lives in California gave us a month of his life. Married children with families rarely do that or at least in my world it hasn’t happened. They moved to California when the baby was still less than a year old so he decided he wanted to come visit his dad (who has emphysema), help him do some things maybe needing done, and of course he was proud to share his baby girl who is now 2 1/2 with us. She kept us entertained. She talks up a storm, has learned/is learning sign language with the Signing Time Theme Series. See below for YouTube video of this. If you have little ones, it is amazing what our grand-daughter has learned from them starting at 1 1/2. She is doing lots of signing, and loves to sing and dance along with the DVD’s. She can count to 20, has an amazing vocabulary, can sign her numbers, and is learning Spanish as well and can count to 10 in Spanish. (Okay, enough Grandma bragging…lol)

Anyway, the week before Easter, it was pouring down rain ~ the drenching kind ~ and the doorbell rang. That is a rarity at our house as usually no one ever stops by. Anyway, I open it and the lady standing there holding a vase of pretty flowers asks if I’m Patricia and hands them to me. My son had gone to town the day before, but I was clueless that he’d stopped by the flower shop and ordered me flowers with a hand written card. He was at the Church that his family attended when he use to live in Ohio helping them with their cleaning heading into Easter so he wasn’t home when they arrived. Hugs and thanks waited until he got home. Now I think I can count on my hand or hands the time that I’ve received flowers from a florist so smiles and delight were on my face. 🙂 🌻🌻 It’s amazing how children can always amaze a parent.

I edited the above picture with Kim’s kk_hughes and some Photoshop edits to share with Texture Tuesday.

I hated to see them go so I pressed them between papers, ironed them between wax paper, and put them in a hoop so I could hang it in a window. Now whenever I look out my window, I am also seeing the lovely flowers from an awesome man who I call son.

I may eventually add lace and ribbons to the hoop which would be cute too.

My son shared his time, his daughter, and some of God’s amazing flowers. And my daughter-in-law who is a nurse in California had to go back and couldn’t stay the month so I gave her thanks for sharing my son. He has now gone home, and our house is too quiet and will never be the same. Always a whirlwind when company is here, but then they go home and I’m sad for days.

True Light of Christmas

Christmas for quotography n TT

Sharing with Quotography and Texture Tuesday.

As foretold by the angel Gabriel, she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them at the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them: and they were sore afraid. The angel brought great tidings of great joy to the shepherds that a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord has been born.

The birth that night brought light into our lives of Hope for our salvation. Through him all things are possible because in him was life; and the life was the light of men.

I love Christmas and Santa Claus. To me, they are definitely two separate events. There are many stories about St. Nick who gave Christmas to children. There is also a baby born that gave Christmas to all mankind. I remember and celebrate both, Happy Birthday Jesus AND Merry Christmas. (I never X the Christ out of Christmas).

As we head into this holiday season, I pray all families everywhere are blessed with the Christmas spirit and loving hearts abound.

The same day our first son got a new puppy, we didn’t realize that same night he would be getting his new baby brother. The puppy was a Scottish Terrier. He weighed about one lb, and when the mom-in-law came to stay with son number one, “Surprise, here you go, there’s a new puppy to deal with also.” She was awesome and took it in her stride.

Puppy number one, the Scotty named Smokey lived to be about 15 years old. He died when the first son was 18 and his brother was 13. Also, in that year, another surprise came along. You might say that the 18 year old, instead of getting a new car for graduation got a new baby sister.

When the new baby sister was 5, she got a new puppy for her birthday as a surprise. It was a chocolate Mini Poodle that was the runt of the litter that no one wanted so we adopted her. She looked more like a toy though and weighed about one lb. and grew to be about 5 lbs. Her name was Kassy. You can read her story here She lived to be about 14 years old.

After the Poodle and with the kids now pretty much out of the house, we had decided no more dogs. Well, that lasted about seven years. My hubby was an over-the-road trucker at the time, and guess what he got? Yep, a call from me with “Surprise, guess what I got myself today?” I got a new puppy. Hubby just knew that’s the way it rolls at our house so he wasn’t too mad at me, and I knew he wouldn’t be. He hardly ever, ever gets mad at me. Sometimes, I really do wonder why though. He should…hahahaha

The one in the picture above is my puppy. His name is Razzy and he will be two this July 4th! It’s worked out fine having another puppy to keep us company.
