Participating in Texture Tuesday this week where the theme is ‘From Above’. It’s always fun to see what other people who love photography and photoshopping are sharing so drop by Kim’s place to check out the entries. (textured using kk_pinitonly2)
- It was a very hot July that year, and I was excited to be heading into vacation. We weren’t going anyplace special since the hubby and I wouldn’t be taking vacation at the same time. My plans were to do some things around the house that I had put off for another day, and I especially planned some close to home trips with the boys. A few weeks before heading into my vacation when one of the boys opened a can of Pepsi by me, and for just a bit it seemed to make me queasy. I laughingly told my husband that smell was the same that made me nauseous with our firstborn son. I was a big Pepsi drinker, but when I was pregnant with him, I could not stand to look at or smell that dark substance. The smell that day was the same, but I told hubby there was no way that could be because I hadn’t skipped any monthlies. I forgot all about that incidence and went on with my week-end and the next couple weeks before vacation started.
The week of my vacation all I could do was sit or lay, I was so sick. There was no shopping, no getting things done around the house, no taking the boys anywhere. I had the flu big time. During that week my mom and Aunt and Uncle stopped by for a visit, and my mom later told me that the Aunt and Uncle were concerned because I seemed so sick. I told my mom I wondered if maybe I was having gall bladder issues because it was a different sickness compared to just having the flu. But actually, I was now remembering the Pepsi incidence.
When I returned to work the next week still not feeling all that well, I called the doctor to make an appointment. Before I scheduled though, I did ask the nurse how soon a pregnancy test would reveal anything. She said I didn’t have to wait, that the test could tell pretty early on (this was pre-pregnancy tests over the counter ~ only the doctor did them at the time).
Well, the result was that when the nurse called me back the next day, she said “are you sitting down”. I said yes, and she said, “You are going to have a baby”. It took a while for the news to settle in. The boys were teenagers (18 and 13), I was just beginning to have some free time after 18 years, and now to start all over again with diapers. Plus this time, there would need to be a babysitter while I worked; I hadn’t worked when the boys were young. I debated how to tell the hubby. Well, I needn’t have worried about that, he was overjoyed. That took me by surprise because with having two teenagers to clothe and feed, and finances not being the best I wasn’t sure how he’d take it.
I told him, we’re not telling anyone. They’ll know when the time comes for me to be big as a barrel and then they’ll know. He said okay, but he bugged me to tell. I couldn’t believe how thrilled he was with the news. We only made it about a month before he let the cat out of the bag and told my mom and sisters, his mom, and then everyone.
This week that little girl and baby of the family celebrated her 30th birthday. I’ve always felt that our children were a gift and blessing from God above since we didn’t actually do family planning and each just happened in God’s own time. What does it say in the Bible ~
- Psalm 139:13Â ‘For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb’
- Psalm 139:16 ‘Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
I felt that was God’s plan for us. We hadn’t had a need for family planning because we just didn’t get pregnant that easily so when each happened, each child was a surprise. A special surprise from Above
Our Friday’s Child (Friday’s child is Loving and Giving)..a perfect description…
